“Some people walk in the rain, others just get wet.” Roger Miller
As much as I love springtime with its renewal and growth – I love wintertime with the rain and cold. We don’t get much snow here, but when it does snow – it’s beautiful. I love that all the plants and animals are in their winter slumber – resting up for the next go-round. It’s raining a lot here at the moment. I know in another month or so I’ll be begging for the sun to shine and the flowers to bloom and the trees to green up.
For now, I’m pretty content as I listen to the rain pouring out of the gutters.
And, like a dream, glides away.”
~ Sarah Helen Whitman
It’s a bit sad to be taking the pool down . . . a sure sign that the warm days of summer are over. I’m already noticing a few leaves turning on some of the trees in the neighborhood – which seems awfully early to me. We’re still getting temps from 18-25 degrees Celsius, but it cools down quite a bit at night so that the water in the pool is not holding the heat. The Little’s were in it the other day, and were chilled within minutes. Will have to look in to getting a cover that retains the heat for next year. Anyway – for now pool season is over. Ahhh Summer . . . it’s been fun while it lasted!! Oh well . . . here comes Autumn – my second favorite season. (Don’t let Summer hear this but Spring is my favorite!!)
“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant; if we did not sometimes taste of adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.” — Anne Bradstreet
Spring is my most favorite time of the year . . . I love wandering in the garden to discover what is bursting forth – every day it’s seems something new. Here I discovered my Paeonies had bloomed but their beautiful display had gone unnoticed because of everything else that has grown up around. I was so sad to have missed it . . . but determined that next year their beauty would not be hidden . . .
“In the spring, at the end of the day you should smell like dirt.” Margaret Atwood
Not a terribly inspired picture today – but I think it captures the spirit of spring with these two Littles. It was one of the first gorgeous days we’ve had here this spring and the first place they headed was the garden. Dig, Dig, Dig! The ground is still a bit too wet to plant, but that didn’t stop these two from doing what they could to stir things up!
