“Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer to your goal.”  Elbert Hubbard

On the Ferry headed home from Vancouver Island.  That’s Vancouver Island in the distance with a very pretty sunset.  It’s been a stormy, cold and wet week so it was a treat to see the sun setting over the Island.  I processed this in HDR using Photomatix and Photoshop CS6.

“It’s difficult to think anything but pleasant thoughts while eating a homegrown tomato.”  Lewis Grizzard

Yum, Yum – home grown tomatoes!  My brother is a Commercial Hydroponic Farmer on Vancouver Island.  He’s planted more tomatoes this year in response to high demand.  Normally his Greenhouses are crammed full of Long English Cucumbers.  I always love visiting him and seeing the rows upon rows of vegetables . . . There truly is nothing like fruit picked fresh off the vine . . .

“By three methods we may learn wisdom: First, by reflection, which is noblest; Second, by imitation, which is easiest; and third by experience, which is the bitterest.”  Confucius

My Sister and her Husband bought a nice shiny new Motor Home . . . as they spend half the year on the road travelling.  I just can’t help but ponder how far we’ve come . . . as I remember my parents and all seven of us kids packed in to a Ford Econoline Van camping our way across Canada from Ontario to BC and back.  The idea of travelling in a house on wheels with all the comforts of home . . . not even considered.  Yes indeed – we have come a long way . . .

“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” Muhammad Ali

This is the view from my Sister’s dock on Sproat Lake, Vancouver Island.  Gorgeous, gorgeous spot . . . beautifully reflective and a great place to sit and re-energize.

“With my sunglasses on, I’m Jack Nicholson. Without them, I’m fat and 60.”  Jack Nicholson

Caught my reflection in my sunglasses as my sister and I were waiting in the Ferry lineup on our way to Vancouver Island for a few days.

“Don’t complain about the snow on your neighbor’s roof when your own doorstep is unclean.” Confucius

The cottonwood trees are releasing their “fluff” . . . and it looks like snow.  I stepped out the back door to find our shoes buried in it.  I came across this quote and liked the analogy.

“Save a tree.  Eat a beaver.”  ~Author Unknown

Ha Ha!  Had to laugh at this quote . . . as we have a beaver dam in the creek down the one side of our property!  There’s been some damage right down by the creek – but not up here in the yard.  We’re moving a few trees as things are growing so much some are getting quite crowded.  We planted this Curly Willow as a young seedling in a big barrel a few years ago just to give it a good start.  Time for it to “stand on it’s own”.

“He that does good for good’s sake seeks neither paradise nor reward, but he is sure of both in the end.”  William Penn

I really don’t know how to elaborate on that statement.  It is so true.  The Paradise and The Reward come in so many different forms . . . many that you least expect.  Stay open to the possibilities in your life . . . and have a great journey!

“I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore . . . I hear it in the deep heart’s core.”  William Butler Yeats

I’m posting two photos here today – the first is my original rendition as I wanted to show the fish that were spawning under the dock.  However, I didn’t like the effect really, so I just reworked it and used this porthole .png that I found on Photobucket.   I think I’m happier with the result.  The Rainbow Trout weren’t swimming in close to shore so it was not possible to capture them in this shot.

“Art is the window to man’s soul. Without it, he would never be able to see beyond his immediate world; nor could the world see the man within.”  Claudia Johnson

Enjoying some of our last moments at the Lake before heading home to Vancouver.  No special processing here . . . tweaked just a bit for contrast and clarity in Lightroom.  Otherwise SOOC.
