“Vegetables are a must on a diet.  I suggest carrot cake, zuchinni bread, and pumpkin pie.”  Jim Davis

We planted zuchinni again this year . . . what were we thinking??

I grated up and packaged 12 freezer bags (4 cups each) out of 3 large Zuchinni’s.  These guys are what’s left to deal with.  I’m going to do up several batches of zuchinni bread/muffins that will be enjoyed throughout the winter.  The grated Zuchinni will go in to soups, stews, spaghetti sauce etc . . . adding a yummy and healthy twist to my recipes.

So I guess that’s what we were thinking!

(oh  . . . and those tomatoes are from the garden too . . . still have to figure out what to do with them!)

“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.”  Mark Twain

I spent the last few days trying to get the perfect “shower shot” with the water flowing off my hair.  It’s incredibly difficult to get tack sharp focus when I’m doing this with the camera’s timer and trying to guess where focus should be.  In this shot, I noticed as I was editing – the reflection in the shower head.  So I cropped in, and this is today’s picture.  Shutter speed was quite slow, so the water is more of a steady stream.

This shower is one of my guilty pleasures . . . hubby custom built it with the big 12″ rainhead, 6 body sprays, two hand held shower heads and three addition shower heads in different locations for optimal coverage.  It’s a water waster for sure . . . and so sublime!  I tend to only use the big rain head and the shower sprays.  It’s my own personal spa.

“I don’t sing in the shower at all, and I don’t sing in the shower, either.”  Pia Toscano

I’m working on trying to get a good shower shot.  I’ve seen a few photos of water cascading over wet soapy hair and it looked really cool.  Unfortunately, I’m shooting through the glass of the shower so it’s not very crisp.  You can see the “rain” from the shower head though which is kind of cool.  I thought it looked better in black and white.

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!”  Dr Seuss

Going for the abstract . . . but I’m in there!  I’ll leave this one to the imagination . . .

“A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.”  Denis Waitley

I’ve noticed a trend with this 365 Project . . . I don’t smile alot.

I’m not sure why that is.  Sometimes I know it’s because I’m just focusing so much that I forget to smile.  But other times I think I’m smiling, but when I see the picture there is no smile!  This project has made me painfully aware that even though I feel like I’m smiling on the inside, it doesn’t always show on the outside!  I wonder, if I’m not smiling on the outside, how people perceive me.  Because I AM a very caring and sharing person inside.

I know the people who know me know that.  So I will put forth more effort to make sure people who DON’T know me, know that!

“The golden rule is that there are no golden rules.”  George Bernard Shaw

I love where I live, and I love this time of year.

The days are getting shorter and soon we’ll be complaining about how cold and wet it is.  For now, this is what I get to enjoy every evening looking out on my back yard.  You can just see the leaves starting to turn on the Katsura tree, but everything is still so green and beautiful.

It’s my second favorite season to Spring.

“The possession of knowledge does not kill the sense of wonder and mystery.  There is always more mystery.”  Anais Nin

I’m falling a bit behind in my 365 . . . so am playing catchup.  I am playing around with focusing on my D800 and the 105mm lens.  It’s not as easy as it might seem!  I managed to get the leaf on the plant in great focus . . . so decided that I’d add a bit of texture (Kim Klassen “tapededge.jpg) to create a bit of mystery . . .

“The trick is growing up without growing old.” Casey Stengel

Today is “muck out the Shop and Garage” day.  We had to get the forklift out to move some heavy things around, and to put some stuff up in the mezzanine.  Of course, the little guy was immediately attracted to the “machinery”.  In fact, he insisted that he take a turn.  He didn’t like the sound of the motor though, so he just sat in the seat and “pretended” to operate it.

I love the little ones and their great imaginations.

“Pizza is a lot like sex.  When it’s good, it’s really good.  When it’s bad, it’s still pretty good.”  Unknown

Mmmm . . . I love pizza!  I’m trying to lose weight though, so like to make my own at home.  I found these pre-made pizza crusts at CostCo that are whole grain and already baked.  You just add your toppings and pop in the oven until the toppings are heated or cooked through.  They come in a package of four rounds . . . so I freeze the extras.  It makes a nice quick last minute dinner.

Tonight, I spread the crust with pizza sauce, freshly grated zuchinni from my garden, Canadian Bacon, freshly sliced tomatoes, baby spinach, grated Tillamook cheese, and sprinkled with fresh grated parmigiana.

Yum, Yum!

“There is only one corner of the universe you can be certain of improving, and that’s your own self.”  Aldous Huxley

I love getting a good pedicure, but they are so expensive!  I will treat myself from time to time . . . but in the meantime I just do it myself.
