“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” Dr Seuss
Baby Girl wakes up every morning giggling and happy and playful. It’s the most amazing experience for her Papa and I. I love to listen to her talking with her stuffies in her crib – which she will do for almost half an hour. Then I’ll hear a tentative “Ya Ya?” When I get up and go in to get her, she giggles with joy and hides under her blanket. How can one not just have a great day after waking up to that?? This morning, her last day here in Canada with us, she decided to climb on the window ledge in our bedroom and look outside for the birdies. I love the whispy softness of this shot – taken with my iPad and processed in Photoshop CS6 with Nik Color Effex Pro.
I’m going to miss her so much! But I am so blessed to have had the opportunity to spend this quality time with her.
Priceless!
“When we are children we seldom think of the future. This innocence leaves us free to enjoy ourselves as few adults can. The day we fret about the future is the day we leave our childhood behind.” Patrick Rothfuss, The Name of the Wind
I’m enjoying so much taking pictures of this little one. Those curls, that sweet innocence. This morning we went out to feed the birdies some puffed rice cereal we’d used to make some Halloween Treat with – but it didn’t work out so well. We thought the birds might enjoy them. I caught her with the morning light coming from behind her, through the Willow Tree at the edge of the creek. I think this may be one of my favorite pictures of her so far.
After she put the cereal on the little spool, she walked around snapping her fingers saying “here birdie, here birdie, treats!”
I just love seeing life through her eyes!
“Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.” L.M. Montgomery, The Story Girl
I am reveling in the blessing of having my Daughter and Grand Daughter visiting from California for the week. Today we spent some time in Vancouver at Stanley Park. I have great memories visiting here as a child, and as well, bringing my own kids here when they were little. So it was with great joy that I was able to share this experience with my Grand Daughter, and share the memories with my Daughter.
Moments like these are priceless . . .
“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle startdust over the lives of little children.” Alex Haley
My beautiful little almost-2-year-old Grand Daughter has come to visit with her Mommie for a week. If you’ve read previous posts, we had her here for three weeks last winter while her Daddy had open heart surgery. I am so excited that Mommie has decided to spend her vacation time here in Canada with Papa G and Ya Ya. She absolutely loves her baths . . . in fact she is a water baby – loves anything that involves water – even the rain! She is an absolute delight. I love the sound of her laughter ringing through the house. It’s going to be a fun week ahead!
“If you want something, it will elude you. If you do not want something, you will get ten of it in the mail.” Anna Quindlen
I live in a rural area. About two years ago, Canada Poste installed these banks of mailboxes to replace all of the old “mailbox on a post” banks on the roadways. These new postal banks are away from the busy traffic areas, usually down a dead end cul-de-sac. As a result I usually only check the mail once or twice a week. I like it though, as our mail is much more secure, and we don’t get all the junk newspapers now. Still lots of junk mail though – which is surprising.
I would think with the advent of the Internet, junk mail would become less and less. It’s so expensive to produce for one thing – then even more to distribute. I know because we did it for awhile to advertise our business a few years ago. High cost for low return. I don’t even look at the junk mail anymore – a neighbor has placed a garbage can right by the mailboxes so we can just throw our junk mail in there and then he recycles it. (Anything with our identifying information though – I bring home and shred)
I guess we’re still going to be dependent on Canada Poste for certain mail, despite the fact that I take advantage of paperless billing as much as possible, and rarely even write a check or even a letter for that fact.
Amazing how much the internet has taken over . . . but paper mail still persists!
“Nothing stops the man who desires to achieve. Every obstacle is simply a course to develop his achievement muscle. It’s a strengthening of his powers of accomplishment.” Thomas Carlyle
I had this vision ever since my Day 247 muscle flexed photo. I used the liquefy filter in Photoshop CS6, and my Wacom tablet to accomplish this effect. I feel like I have grown so much in my Photography knowledge and skills since starting this 365 Project back in January. It’s been an amazing journey with a group of people who live all over the world, from Australia to Sweden, Finland, England, Canada and the US. We’re a group that started out with about 200 people, but are down to around 30 that are still posting regularly and up to date. The inspiration and encouragement are just amazing. I’ve met one 365’er in person, and look forward to a meetup in Las Vegas in November with 10 or twelve others. Some days have been tough to figure out what to do next . . . but the encouragement is always there . . . the inspiration is endless.
So – thanks MTM 365’ers, and Michael Andrew! Only 115 more days to go!
“You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus.” Mark Twain
I came across this fellow today. Kind of a cutie pie eh? This photo is a picture of me and my new best friend. Oh . . . not the Moose silly! The camera! LOL! One of my fellow 365’ers thought that I look kind of drunk . . . I processed this in Photoshop with Topaz Labs Lens Effects filter to blur the background. I guess it gives a bit of a surreal look . . .
“Pooh, promise you won’t forget about me, ever. Not even when I’m a hundred.” Pooh though for a little. “How old shall I be then?” “Ninety-nine.” Pooh nodded. “I promise,” he said. – Christopher Robin & Pooh Bear
I have to say that Honey Bear is really enjoying his new home here north of the border! Today, he and Canada Moose have become fast friends . . . they’re having some quiet time together on the front porch. Who knew a little honey bear from New Jersey could become so right at home here in beautiful British Columbia? We’re so pleased to add him to our family . . .
Honey Bear is making new friends here north of the border . . . found this little 100% Canadian Honey Bear on the shelves at Save-On-Foods today. I really couldn’t leave them alone for long though, and finally had to separate them as things were just getting a little too sticky . . .
