“The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other.”  Burton Hillis

This is baby girl’s second Christmas . . . she still doesn’t quite get what is going on but it sure was special for us to be here to experience her joy in “her party”.  She loved opening “her presents”.  She didn’t wake up until 8am . . . and even then was only interested in watching Dora on my iPad snuggled in bed with Papa G and YaYa.  By time Daddy and Mommy were up and moving around . . . we checked out stockings.  As per our tradition, we had our traditional Christmas Breakfast of Hungarian Bubble Ring, scrambled eggs and bacon before opening the regular presents.  I took this shot after all the presents had been opened, in the midst of the chaos.  She was more excited to rip the paper off the packages than she was in what was inside.

So cute, and so much fun!

The amazing thing about this shot is that both she and her Daddy are smiling . . . and at the same time!

“If becoming a grandmother was only a matter of choice, I should advise every one of you straight away to become one.  There is no fun for old people like it!”  Hannah Whitehall Smith

The little one is staying on with Ya Ya and Papa G here in Canada while Mommy flies home to California.  (We’ll be driving her back to California in a  weeks time)  We dropped Mommy at the airport in Bellingham this  morning, then went for breakfast at Shari’s Restaurant.  The food was practically inedible . . . but we hung out for a bit waiting for Cost Co to open.  We were in a nice spacious corner booth, so she had lots of room to play and jump and “attack”! I shot this with my iPad, then processed it in Snapseed.  Gotta love these apps!  I love this picture because it really epitomizes my relationship with her.  We adore each other!  She misses Mommy, but she loves her Ya Ya!

Nuff said!

“Children’s talent to endure stems from their ignorance of alternatives.” Maya Angelou

We were at breakfast this morning in a favorite local restaurant.  She was a bit cranky while we waited for our food, so out came the iPhone with her beloved Bubble Guppies.  When I snapped this photo, I had to distract her and this is the “stare” that I got . . . how DARE I interrupt her precious show!

She’s a very resilient child who’s Mommy allows her to fall down and get back up on her own, and figure out solutions to problems rather than jumping in and solving them for her.  At age 20 months she’s already got quite the dialogue, and has no trouble communicating what she is thinking, feeling, or wanting.  I’m so excited to be a part of the journey of her life.

“Expect problems and eat them for breakfast.”  Alfred A. Montapert

I have to start out my day with a good breakfast.  Weekends tend to be a bit more relaxed, except lately with daily visits to Hospital, breakfasts tend to be more rushed and quick no matter what day of the week.  This morning I decided we were overdue for a leisurely yummy breakfast.  Cinnamon bread makes the best French Toast and I love it smothered in fresh fruit and yogurt.  Liberte  or Fage 0% Greek Yogurts are my fav’s.  Yesterday we found good quality strawberries at Cost Co (not an easy task!) so with that combination and a smidge of Maple syrup – YUM!!
