“Sensual pleasures have the fleeting brilliance of a comet; a happy marriage has the tranquility of a lovely sunset.”

I love this particular photo because, as the above quote states, a happy marriage has the tranquility of a lovely sunset.  I feel like that is where we are in our relationship these days – tranquil and happy.  Not to say that we don’t have a few issues crop up now and then, but we know it’s safe to work through the issues without worry that one of us is going to walk away.

I love the feeling of walking hand in hand, side by side, with my best friend – exploring, adventuring, loving, living and sharing.

This photo was taken at sunset on Ke’e Beach at The End of The Road, Kauai, HI.

“It’s when ordinary people rise above the expectations and seize the opportunity that milestones truly are reached.”  Mike Huckabee

Shortly after I started this Blog and my 365 Project back in January . . . my MIL fell and broke her hip.  She is 92 years old, so we were quite worried and concerned about her future.  Luckily, it was a fracture, not a break  . . . and she healed so well, beyond the expectations of Doctors and Physiotherapists.  After months of Physio, we were able to get her up to the summer home in the Interior of BC where she has spent her summers for many, many years.  Fear of falling has been her biggest hurdle since the accident, so there were many challenges to be faced in the more rugged surroundings.

Kudo’s to her!  With determination and help from a neighbor who is a retired Physiotherapist . . . she is now walking, with the aide of hiking poles, from the cabin and up the steep driveway to the main road.  This is a major accomplishment for her, as she would do nothing without her walker when we left her at the beginning of the summer.  She is still fearful of falling, but is not allowing the fear to stop her in her tracks.  I’m so proud of her!  She is such an inspiration . . . and she turns 93 in just a few days!

Talk about Milestones eh??

“All of life is a journey which paths we take, what we look back on, and what we look forward to is up to us.  We determine our destination, what kind of road we will take to get there, and how happy we are when we get there.” Bob Moawad

The City decided it was time to re-do our road, which is a fairly main road in our neighborhood.  it’s been closed off to only local traffic for over a week now.  It’s been completely stripped down to the underlayment and a whole new gravel bed laid.  Finally yesterday they paved it, and last night they painted the stripes.  I took advantage of no traffic this morning to capture this shot.  Once the street is open to normal traffic, I’d be taking my life in to my own hands doing this!
