“I want to get old gracefully. I want to have a good posture. I want to be healthy and be an example to my children.” Sting
These are the supplements I take everyday to help my body stay healthy. I am a Type II Diabetic – well controlled on the minimum dose of Metformin. Diet and exercise have helped me keep my blood sugars in the borderline range over the last several years. I am determined to live as long as I can to enjoy my Grandkids and Great Grandkids, and to travel and check off all the items on my bucket list.
Oh my, I’ve got a lot to do in the next 40 years!

Where were you? What were you doing?
Considering that this phenomenon will not happen again within our lifetime, I decided it had to be documented in my 365 Project. It was interesting to set this up with other people watching with curiosity. In fact, there is a fellow just off to the right in the hot tub smiling at us while the camera snapped away on Self Timer mode. This will be a great memory to pass on to our Grandkids and Great Grandkids so that they can see their Ya Ya and Papa G living life, not letting life just pass by. I want my future generations to be motivated and excited about exploring the world and living life to the fullest for as long as is possible. We live in a very mobile world where it is easier and easier to travel the world over and experience life on a level that my parents never did. And I never did either until recently – within the last ten years. And I’m now hooked!
And I’m doing it with my Best Friend!

I love Water Aerobics. There’s just something about not feeling the sweat of your workout because you are already in the water . . . plus it is an amazing all-body workout. Unfortunately, I haven’t been for almost a year. I was gone for most of November and December last year . . . between my Granddaughter’s 1st birthday in California and a 3 week vacation in Hawaii – we arrived home just 3 days before Christmas. The New Year brought several close family situations that consumed me . . . but now it’s time I get back to my healthy lifestyle. It’s so easy to STOP working out . . . and really, really tough to get going again. Why is that? For me, I know it’s all mental . . . I create my own roadblocks. I feel so darn good when I am working out on a regular basis. Intellectually, I know all about the benefits that support working out and staying fit . . . but then it’s just so easy to “get too busy” or “just not get around to it” and then the day is over and I’ve not done what I said I was going to do. One day soon becomes a week, and a week becomes a month. Suddenly almost a year has gone by! So – enough is enough – no more waiting for “tomorrow” or “next week”. And if doing it for myself isn’t good enough then I’ll do it for my Grandkids and (future) Great Grandkids. They deserve to have me around!
I’ve spent a fair bit of time in my car driving over the last few weeks(Canada to Oregon to California, with lots of sightseeing in between). Today I was able to sit back and relax while my husband did the driving, as he had flown down to California to spend a bit of time with the grandkids, and drive home with me. I caught this reflection in the car’s mirror as we were driving along. I was feeling quite satisfied with the past 6 weeks of activities since my Grandson had flown out from Maryland to spend time with me. I am so incredibly blessed in my life, and am so happy to be able to create value in the lives of those around me. Today though, I was really enjoying having someone else take the wheel!
“Nobody can do for little children what grandparents do. Grandparents sort of sprinkle stardust over the lives of little children.” Alex Haley
Sleepover!! We had spent the day at a pool party, and ended up with all six Grandkids for a sleepover. We were all pretty beat . . . so settled down to watch Nemo before bedtime. Awesome memories having the kids (cousins) together like this. These are the opportunities I like to create whenever I can.
